The Belin United Methodist Church Annual Blessing of the Inlet takes places on Saturday, May 5, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Join in this annual day-long celebration of worship, entertainment, great food, family fun and arts & crafts. The “Blessing of the Inlet” Ceremony will start at 11:30 am. The 31st Annual Blue Crab Festival will return to nearby Little River, SC on May 19 and May 20th, 2012. The festival will take place Saturday from 9am to 6pm and Sunday from 9am to 6pm on Water Front Ave. in nearby Little River. The event features live music, arts and crafts, food (including delicious steamed blue crabs), and activities for families and kids.

The Lost at Sea Memorial was erected in 2006 to pay tribute to all those who lost their lives at sea and were never found. The Memorial, located at Morse Park Landing, was established by the family of Johnny Brown, a 38-year old Murrells Inlet commercial fisherman who was lost at sea in 2005. All the people, whose names are etched on the monument, will be remembered at the ceremony.
