It Takes a Community to Keep North Myrtle Beach Beautiful

Many people that have come to stay in our North Myrtle Beach vacation rentals in the past have commented on how clean the North Myrtle Beach area is. We’re proud of our town and beach and wouldn’t be able to keep it this way without the help of the many citizens that cared so much about the town they live in that a program was formed to educate and empower the community.

North Myrtle Beach vacation rentalsKeep North Myrtle Beach Beautiful (KNMBB) is a community based program that enables members of the community to improve the environment, enhance the quality of life and experience pride in their community through beautification, litter prevention, and recycling. The KNMBB committee and commission are funded by the City of North Myrtle Beach through the Parks and Recreation Department. All of the members are volunteers.

The program has received many awards throughout the recent years. Their Committee meetings are open to the public and are held the second Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. at the J. Bryan Floyd Community Center. If you have questions or would like to attend the monthly meeting you can call (843) 280-5673.

At Grand Strand Resorts we’re proud that our North Myrtle Beach vacation rentals are located in a community where the residents and businesses care about how their community looks. The city of North Myrtle Beach has developed a zero tolerance when it comes to litter. Their goal is to clean up the community, and they will not tolerate anyone littering. They’ve set up a litter hotline at (843) 280-5511 and encourage visitors and residents alike to call it if they see anyone littering. It’s only my methods such as this that they can education the public on the damage created to the environment when people litter.

6 Good Reasons to Bring in the New Year in our North Myrtle Beach Vacation Rentals

Where is your most ideal place to spend New Year’s Eve? For some it’s where the greatest throng of people can be found, whether it’s Time Square in New York City or the Vegas Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada. But for others, they prefer a smaller, more manageable gathering like you’d find here in coastal South Carolina — perhaps in one of the many local nightclubs or just an intimate gathering of friends and family.

North Myrtle Beach vacation rentals to spend New Years EveWe have six good reasons why you should bring in the New Year right here in our North Myrtle Beach vacation rentals instead of staying home or trekking to the big cities. Here they are in no particular order:

1. Stay in one of our North Myrtle Beach oceanfront vacation rentals that we have and you’ll get the best views of all for firework shows up and down the coast.
2. It’s been a long year so why not reward your self by transitioning to the next year in style by staying in one of our North Myrtle Beach luxury vacation rentals.
3. No parking worries! All of our rentals come with adequate parking and there are no traffic jams here at the beach!
4. It’s affordable! With all of our vacation rentals at off-season rates you just won’t  experience such low prices on any other beautiful beach rentals like we have.
5. The weather is fabulous here at this time of the year! Nobody likes standing in the freezing cold to bring in the New Year, not to even mention the snow and the slush you have to drive through to get there. Come to SC where your biggest hassle is sand between your toes.
North Myrtle Beach vacation rentals6. If you’ve never experienced fireworks at the seashore you’re in for a treat. The colors of the bursting fireworks reflect off the ocean water and you get twice the awesomeness as on land. It’s just breathtaking!

All of us at Grand Strand Resorts would like to wish you and yours a very healthy, happy and safe New Year!

There’s Awesome Fishing at Cherry Grove Pier

If you love to fish you should know that some of the best fishing can be had along the Carolina coast and it doesn’t even require a boat!  Being successful at fishing requires both the right equipment and knowledge of the conditions that affect the fish. Some of this knowledge only comes in time with experience but you can always find a few fishermen that are happy to share what they’ve learned over the years with you.

North Myrtle Beach vacation rentalsWhen you stay in our North Myrtle Beach vacation rentals you’ll be close to some of the finest fishing and crabbing done off the Cherry Grove Pier right here in North Myrtle Beach. The Cherry Grove Pier is 985 feet of fishing fun for the entire family and has the only two story observation deck of any privately owned pier in the Myrtle Beach area as well as having record catches including a world record 1780 lb. Tiger Shark and a record 98 lb. Tarpon.

Tip: Always use fresh bait. It will always attract more fish especially if you are using live bait like shrimp or sand fleas. Change bait frequently for the best results. Keep loud conversation, music, and noises to a minimum. Sound carries great distances under water and can drive fish away.

North Myrtle Beach vacation rentalsEverything you’d need for a day of fishing from the pier can be had just a short distance from our North Myrtle Beach vacation rentals. The Cherry Grove Pier has a full service tackle, bait and gift shop. They have everything you need for a fun outing including a full line of rods and reels from famous makers like Sea Striker, Diawia, and Shakespeare, Sea Striker rigs, Calcutta apparel, tackle rental, bait and unique beach souvenirs. You can also get your daily and season passes there. You do not need a fishing license to fish off of this pier once you have purchased a pass.

Tip: When fishing from a pier, cast and let your bait drift with the tide, or fish on the bottom. The marine life attached to the pier’s pilings means a supply of readily available food to the fish, so they naturally tend to gather around the pier. Use enough weight on your line when bottom fishing for the current and tide conditions.

Have fun out there and remember that the changing tide at dawn or dusk can be among the best times to catch fish.

In this day and age, there are many portable devices to keep children entertained in cars, on trains and in airplanes. If your children are smaller, include coloring books, pencils, crayons, storybooks you’ve bought especially for this occasion, toys, and music. And pack lots of snacks for the trip.
