Cherry Grove Oceanfront Park is located in the heart of North Myrtle Beach.

Things To Do Around The Park Area

Take A Walk To The Cherry Grove Fishing Pier

Originally built in the 1950s, it is the place where the world record for a Tiger Shark catch was set. This fish weighed in at 1,789 pounds! A huge Tarpon, weighing 98 pounds, was also caught here. The fishing pier was more recently remodeled; Cherry Grove Pier has repeatedly seen action by hurricanes.

Today, people come from all over to enjoy the stunning scenery as well as fishing and dining. It ranks as one of the most popular destinations for families and fishing on the South Carolina coast. The pier is known for its restaurant and a picturesque gazebo at the pier’s end. As far as fishing goes, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to catch such favorites as King Mackerel, Flounder, Whiting, Red Drum, Black Drum, Bluefish, Pompano (summer only), Spotted Trout, Sheepshead, Sea Bass and Blue Crabs.

You’ll be able to buy equipment there as well; manufacturers such as Sea Striker, Diawia, Shakespeare and Calcutta apparel and Sea Striker Rigs are represented here. Live bait is also sold to help complete your catch. The shop offers stuffed sea creature, gifts and nautical-themed merchandise if you’re looking for something to take home. You can cool down with beer or soft drinks, as well. And if you’ve forgotten your sun glasses, they can be bought here also.

Enjoy Cherry Grove Beach!

You’ll love being near this beach and its clear waters. If you’re bringing your pet during the summer months, it must be leashed at all times and can only be on the beach after 5pm or before 9am.

Swim or splash in the water and relax in the sun. There are access points at the most northern end of the beach. Other access points are near the walkway along the beach.

The Park is located at 2108 North Ocean Boulevard. Parking is nearby, close to the Sea Mountain street end. At the very end of Cherry Grove Beach, you can find a beach access that is popular as a romantic hideaway. It is known as inlet point and offers a distinct setting of dunes and grasses that is unique to the other areas of North Myrtle Beach.

Explore The Area Around The Park In The Water

If you want to ride on the water, you can rent paddleboards and kayaks from Kokpelli Surf & Rentals, Great Escapes or J & L Kayaking. Launch at the Cherry Grove Boat Launch, which is located at 53rd Avenue North. Enjoy views of the beach from the water; bring a camera or phone for some great pictures.

Shopping

Go to the Coastal North Town Center, a few minutes away from Cherry Grove. You can dine here or shop for clothing and home decor. Within the shopping center, find Ross, TJ Maxx, Hobby Lobby, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Pet Smart. Dining options include Bojangles and Chipotle. For any grocery needs, there is a Publix supermarket.

Golfing

You might need to venture a bit outside of North Myrtle Beach to find one of the courses. Tee times can be booked online. Here is a list of some of the courses that are in the area:

Many of the courses have beautiful views of the area as well as challenging greens. The club that is the closest to Cherry Grove Oceanfront Park is Surf Golf & Beach Club. Tidewater has been highly rated by Golf Digest and has views of the Intercostal Waterway.

The Oceanfront Park that is Cherry Grove offers the you family fun as well as fishing and dining. It is close to North Myrtle Beach with its lively amusement and dining options. However, Cherry Grove promises a quiet beach in a quaint setting. The inlet presents bird watches as well as boaters with a natural marsh landscape.
