North Myrtle Beach offers many different activities, festivities, and much more to keep you busy and entertained no matter what time of year you visit. However, The typical festivities are no match to the 4th of July celebration that happens in and around Myrtle Beach. Whether you are interested in spending the day on the beach oh, on a boat, or running a 5k there is something for everyone here. Here are a few of our favorite things to do on July 4th in and around North Myrtle Beach.
Myrtle Beach Pelicans
Nothing is as patriotic as a nice game of baseball and a stellar light show afterwards. The Pelicans have been playing a 4th of July game for years and putting on a fantastic firework show at the end of the game. Enjoy watching the game or see the fireworks all the way from the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. You will love every second of this family experience.
Cherry Grove Pier Fireworks
Not only is the Cherry Grove Pier infamous for being one of the largest piers on the East Coast, it also has an incredible firework show on July 4th. Sit back and relax on the pier or the beach as you listen to live music and see the fireworks show reflect over the ocean. The fireworks typically start around 9:00 PM and can be watched from the balconies of many vacation rentals near the pier. Grab a spot on the beach or watch for the comfort of your own home.
4th of July Fireworks at Broadway at The Beach
Not only does Broadway at the Beach have a spectacular fireworks show twice a week, they really outdo themselves when it comes to holidays, especially the 4th of July. The show will start at 10Pm and will take place over Lake Broadway. see the reflective fireworks burst in the sky from anywhere in broadway or even some close by hotels and homes. Enjoy a nice family dinner at Broadway and then grab a spot for the beautiful show!
Independence day 5k
There is nothing like spending the Fourth Of July running in the annual 4th race. You can choose between running a 5k or an 8k depending on how active you are feeling. The race typically starts early in the morning, so you have plenty of time to race and still join in on other festivities going on afterwards. The start of the race is in the Market Common near Valor Park and finishes there as well.
Surfside Beach Celebration
Venture down the Grand Strand to Surfside to enjoy fireworks being shot off the Surfside Pier. This is enjoyed from the pier, on the beach, or inside of the oceanfront restaurant attached to the pier. The fireworks display starts around 9 PM and will be the perfect end to your patriotic day. Around 1 PM, no matter what beach you are on on the Grand Strand you will see the military aircrafts as they flyover for the Annual Salute from the shore. See the jets as you enjoy a day on the nice, hot, sandy beach. The fourth of July fireworks can be enjoyed from anywhere in surrounding areas. Surfside Beach is also home to Ocean Lakes where they hold a big golf cart parade on the 4th.
Pawleys Island 4th of July Parade
If live entertainment is what you are after, the parade in Pawleys is the talk of all the 4th of July events. The community gets together annually with their unique imaginations to assemble “floats” from golf carts , to cars, trailers and much more. Every float is decked out in red, white, and blue, and it is only $15 dollars to enter a float into the parade if you pay in advance.
Murrells Inlet Boat Parade
If you’re interested in staying cool and floating on the fourth of July, check out the boat parade near the marshwalk. View or take part in the best decorated boat, or watch from several locations along the marsh, or Garden City Point. After the parade enjoy a nice lunch or dinner at the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk and sit back to watch the beach fireworks.
