The 8 Best North Myrtle Beach Happy Hours

When it comes to vacation destinations, Myrtle Beach in South Carolina is always a top spot. However, those who want to avoid the crowds can heat up to North Myrtle Beach instead. There, you can find plenty of activities and amenities to keep you and your family entertained.

That said, we will focus on one specific type of attraction – the happy hour. With so many bars and taverns in North Myrtle Beach, you’re never too far from great happy hour specials. We managed to find eight of them for your convenience. Just make sure to drink responsibly!

Boardwalk Billy’s

Happy Hour: 4-7 pm Everyday

As you’ll notice, the best time to visit North Myrtle Beach is around sunset, since practically all of the happy hours start at 4 pm. Kicking things off is Boardwalk Billy’s, which has one of the best happy hour menus in the city.

We hope you like fresh seafood because you can get it here at discounted prices. Highlights include half-pound orders of crab legs, peel-and-eat shrimp, and tasty chicken wings.

Sushi lovers will also appreciate Billy’s because the restaurant offers 12 unique rolls for five dollars or less. At these prices, you can sample them all and still have money left over for discounted beer and cocktails. Be sure to bring some friends along, as they will want to have a bite.

Bouys on the Boulevard

Happy Hour: 4-7 pm Everyday

Some restaurants use a happy hour to push drink specials, while other places offer an extensive happy hour menu. Fortunately, Bouys on the Boulevard does both so that you don’t have to choose one or the other.

If you’re in the mood for cocktails, you can choose from favorites like a long island iced tea, a house margarita, or shots of Jagermeister and Fireball. During happy hour, all well drinks are under $3, so you can get more than your money’s worth during your visit.

The menu is also pretty extensive, with hits like chicken tenders, crab legs, oysters on the half shell, wings, and pulled pork sliders. Best of all, Bouys is right on the water, so you can watch a captivating sunset with your beverage and food of choice.

Captain Archie’s

Happy Hour: 4-7 pm Everyday

Here we have another waterfront restaurant with a kickin’ happy hour menu. However, instead of sitting next to the ocean, Captain Archie’s sits along the Intracoastal Waterway. So, you won’t get to watch the sunset, but you’ll get some incredible views with your meal.

Captain Archie’s is all about the food menu for happy hour. Unfortunately, if you want discounted cocktails, you’ll have to try somewhere else. Nonetheless, you can fill your belly on the cheap with delicious dishes like steak bites, fish bites, mozzarella sticks, and Hawg wings.

If you are interested in imbibing with your meal, Captain Archie’s does have some excellent cocktails. Their resident mixologist knows how to blend flavors into a unique and decadent beverage.

Duck Dive Bar and Grill

Happy Hour: 4-7 pm Everyday

Part of the appeal of going to a bar and grill in North Myrtle Beach is that you’re sure to find some entertainment. Duck Dive Bar has you covered with live music on most weekends to help you get in the mood for a night on the town.

Although the bar hosts a happy hour every day from four to seven, it doesn’t list the specials online. However, we heard through the grapevine that drinks are discounted by at least $1, and small bites (i.e., fries) are only $2. But, you’ll have to go to the bar to see for yourself.

Even without the happy hour, Duck Dive has a pretty stellar menu, including the “best burger on the beach.” We also like the duck fat fries, the steak sandwich, and the signature Grove Bowl. You can get your bowl with shrimp, chicken, steak, or tuna.

Filets Waterfront

Happy Hour: 4-7 pm Everyday

In our experience, steakhouses can have some of the best happy hours around. Filets is no exception, with an extensive list of discounted appetizers and sushi rolls. Plus, since you’re on the water (the coastal waterway, not the beach), you can enjoy a cool breeze with your meal.

Some of our favorites from Filets include the stuffed portabello mushroom, calamari plate, spicy shrimp, beef tips, and steamed mussels. The sushi menu is also pretty substantial, with over 12 different rolls available. It’s so hard to pick the best appetizers that you have no choice but to come back again for round two (or three, or four…)

If you decide to stick around for dinner, Filets won’t disappoint. Both the steaks and seafood are excellent and will make you think you’re at a Michelin-star restaurant. We highly recommend the garlic roasted prime rib or the Tilapia Caribbean.

The Grumpy Monk

Happy Hour: 4-7 pm Everyday

While the titular monk may be grumpy, you won’t be when you come for this award-winning happy hour! Apparently, The Grumpy Monk has won “Best Happy Hour” four years in a row, and we can see why.

This menu has an excellent blend of cocktails, draft beers, and food items. Realistically, you can just come for happy hour and never want for anything else. Some of the top-rated dishes include a bbq sandwich trio, buffalo mac n’ cheese, sloppy joe tater tots, and queso and bacon-topped fries. There’s something for everyone in your party, or you can just order a bunch of different items for yourself. We’re not here to judge.

The Monk also has an extensive chicken wing menu, and you can buy signature craft cocktails for less than $5. During happy hour, you can pay $1 less for domestic beers as well.

The Marina Bar

Happy Hour: 4-8 pm Everyday

When visiting North Myrtle Beach, you’ll likely find yourself at Barefoot Landing. This spot has tons of attractions for the whole family, which is why it’s such as popular destination. So, after you’ve been out and about, why not come to The Marina Bar for some great food and drinks?

What we like about this happy hour is that it’s longer than the rest, so you’re not in a rush to finish your meal or beverage. However, the bar is not upfront about what’s on the happy hour menu, so you have to see it for yourself.

That said, the regular menu is pretty impressive, so we have to believe that the happy hour is just as awesome. Highlights include baby back ribs, fish and shrimp tacos, beef tips, a flounder sandwich, and a fried oyster basket. You should also try the Marina boil if you love fresh-caught seafood made to order. The boil includes everything from shrimp to crab legs to oysters, making it the perfect family meal.

Snooky’s Oceanfront

Happy Hour: 4-6 pm every day

Closing us out is this oceanside bar and grill, which apparently has the “freshest seafood along the Grand Strand.” For outsiders, the Grand Strand is a massive stretch of beaches that extend all the way to central South Carolina. So, this claim is pretty bold, although we’re inclined to agree.

As far as the happy hour menu goes, Snooky’s doesn’t list it online. However, the main menu is about as expansive as you can find anywhere along the eastern seaboard. If we wanted to list all of the highlights, we’d be here for days.

Still, we can’t neglect to mention that Snooky’s has a raw bar, where you can all kinds of seafood, including oysters, crab claws, and ceviche in four different ways (including lionfish and octopus). So, whether you like fried crab cakes or decadent king crab claws, Snooky’s has it all.
